Roles & Responsibilities

– Administer and support IBM z/OS or other mainframe operating systems and subsystems.
– Monitor system performance, perform system tuning, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
– Plan and execute system upgrades, patch installations, and software maintenance.
– Implement and manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and high-availability configurations.
– Manage user access and security settings, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
– Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
– Collaborate with application developers, DBAs, and other IT staff to support production systems.
– Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and incident reports.
– Assist with capacity planning and infrastructure scaling as per future requirements.
– Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
– 3+ years of experience in mainframe administration, preferably with IBM z/OS environments.
– Strong knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, VTAM, TCP/IP, and SMP/E.
– Experience with storage management tools (e.g., DFSMS, DFHSM).
– Familiarity with RACF or other mainframe security products.
– Understanding of disaster recovery procedures and tools.
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
– Strong communication and documentation abilities.

Qualifications:
– Experience with mainframe automation tools (e.g., CA OPS/MVS, IBM System Automation).
– Familiarity with COBOL, CICS, IMS, DB2.
– Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., banking, insurance, healthcare).
– ITIL Foundation Certification or equivalent.
